Hitch bicycle racks are a simple, easy way to carry your cycles on the backside of the car. There are a few advantages to this. Your bikes are low, so they're easier to load and unload, and it leaves the top of your car free for luggage boxes, canoes and kayaks. The downside: see all that stuff on the backside of a semi driving down I-80? Yep. That stuff can and will get all over your bikes. You can wash them, of course, but most of the $3000 tri-bikes live up on top.
