 Let's get this out of the way. Luggage boxes are not cheap. However...they cost less than a Esplanade or some other vehicle with its own zip code. Let us explain. Once or twice a year those of us with kids turn the minivans into a gigantihugous monster for long family camping trips or visit relatives (both require extensive survival gear). Our vans stay uncrowded—the rear cargo area and the box have everything we need in it, and the passengers are comfortable without pillows and sleeping bags stuffed into every nook and cranny. And we all know comfortable kids mean more comfortable adults. Of course, some would ask why not just get a bigger car. Because the other fifty weeks of the year, we get 24 miles per gallon and can parallel park without a spotter.
